Climate Crisis

Your town in Yorkshire is flooding so you hitch a lift on a boat belonging to Dr Yindi, an Aboriginal climate scientist. Together, you travel to the parched plains of Australia and the melting Arctic ice caps, before heading to lobby the UK parliament to pass a fossil fuels act. But which way will the vote go?

In this Experience, your class will learn about:

  • The effects of global heating including floods, droughts, bush fires and melting ice caps
  • The emission of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels as the reason for global heating
  • Renewable (e.g. wind) versus non-renewable (e.g. coal) energy sources
  • The role of government – and public activism – in solving the climate crisis

Resources for each Experience include:

  • For KS1 & KS2: Recap, Discuss & Quiz; Glossary; Reading Comprehension; Grammar & Punctuation; Writing Opportunities
  • For EYFS: Recap, Create & Play; Word Mat; Actions Storyboard; Song lyrics & mp3s (for some Experiences)
