We are super proud to have Donna Shah speaking at our event ‘Click Into Your Creative Classroom’ on 14th June. Donna is a computing specialist at Newington Green Primary School in Islington and her role is varied and exciting. She has the pleasure of delivering the computing curriculum to all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6, and even has drop in sessions with EYFS pupils.
Alongside this she supports staff with their own tech use; from 1:1 sessions with the premises manager to team teaching with a new piece of EdTech. She is also extremely privileged to work with the Islington Computing team led by @Katy Potts, supporting schools in delivering and embedding EdTech within the curriculum.
Donna absolutely loves her job because,

Another reason that we think is particularly powerful is that Donna’s role has enabled her to develop a curriculum around the pupils’ needs and link this learning to their class topics.
Check out Donna’s blog for WonderHub about her use of physical computing

As the computing lead at Newington Green, Donna is introducing other schools to these methods and providing exposure to new technologies including Newington Green’s current move to the ‘cloud’. Part of this has been supported by her becoming a ‘Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert’ this year.
In recognition for all her work, Donna was recently presented with one of the inaugural awards from LGfL (London Grid for Learning). And as a school they won the Digital Excellence award for Whole School use of LGfL resources.
We think Donna is a true innovator, and her passion and excitement for computing, and the practical impact it has on pupil’s when applied to their needs, is something to shout about and share with other teachers and schools.
