A Free Online Safety Event for Tamworth & Birmingham Primary Schools

Online Safety Workshop

What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day 2019 is being held on Tuesday 5th February 2019 and will be celebrated globally with the theme: Together for a Better Internet.

The day is a great opportunity to reinforce the messages about how your school approaches online safety and encourage conversations about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

Tackling internet safety and making the dangers feel ‘real’ can be hard to achieve in the classroom. That is why we are delighted to have teamed up with Martin Bailey from Animate 2 Educate and Birchwood Primary School to offer a FREE ‘Online Safety’ workshop available to all schools in the Tamworth and Birmingham areas.

How will the day work?

The event will focus on Online Safety and Anti-Bullying and is open to Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils, ideally digital leaders, computer monitors/leads, school council or house captains.  This is a fantastic opportunity for children from local schools to mix and learn together, for staff to network and to find out more about now>press>play.

Places are limited so we are inviting schools to send up to 4 pupils with a maximum of 20 schools in attendance.

Arrival time is 9:15am for a 9:30am start. During the course of the morning pupils will experience two fully immersive now>press>play Experiences, one on Bullying and one on Online Safety.  These Experiences truly bring the issues to life by placing each child at the centre of the action.

In our Online Safety Experience, pupils will learn about the dangers of giving out personal information online and the importance of reporting online abuse and how to go about it. They will also have the opportunity to experience the difference between online and offline friends.

In our Bullying Experience pupils will experience bullying in person and online, deal with peer pressure, become a bully themselves and face the consequences of their actions and learn how to make amends.

Between these sessions Martin Bailey will deliver an online safety workshop and related activities. The morning session will conclude at 11:30am.

How do I book?
