Evolution

When you arrive late on your first day at secondary school, you are sent to the headteacher. But a strange-looking man called Darwin is in the headteacher’s office and asks you to accompany him on a trip through time. Your mission? To prove the theory of evolution.

In this Experience, your class will learn about:

• The inheritance of characteristics from our parents
• How animals adapt to environments over time by inheriting favourable characteristics
• The role of natural selection in this process (“survival of the fittest”)
• How Charles Darwin proved the theory of evolution, in the face of opposition
