How does now>press>play help children to learn?

now>press>play engages all children through sound, story and movement. It helps children to access the curriculum by integrating experiential learning into your classroom. You can read our 2021 Impact Report here.

Does the learning go beyond the Experience?

You can get several lessons out of each now>press>play Experience (and we have over 90 of them!). Our Follow-On Resources deepen the learning afterwards in the classroom, focusing particularly on literacy:
Recap, Discuss & Quiz: This promotes oracy while assessing the learning objectives.
Glossary: A list of all the key learning words with definitions.
Reading Comprehension: This is in the style of SATs, and takes a section from the story for the children to analyse.
Grammar & Punctuation: For KS2 only, this is also a SATs-style paper which follows the Experience’s narrative.
Writing Opportunities: For many teachers, this is the culmination of the Experience, with the children producing quality writing inspired by their direct experience.

In Early Years, we provide: a Word Mat (with key learning words), Actions Storyboard and Songs for those Experiences which feature music.

How will it fit with our curriculum?

Don’t worry about any extra work. Just send us your curriculum and we’ll complete a curriculum fitting for you that maps our Experiences to your curriculum needs.

How inclusive is it?

Our Experiences engage and include children of many abilities at the same time, in a mainstream setting. If you are a SEN school, please get in touch to discuss how we might be suited to you. Our Literacy and Maths Experiences come with differentiated worksheets

What space do you need for a now>press>play Experience?

The  hall or playground (weather permitting!) is best, particularly for Key Stage 2. If the hall is booked, you can also push back the tables in the classroom. This sometimes actually works better for KS1 and EYFS, depending on the class.

What impact might the headphones have on children’s hearing?

During training we advise teachers what volume range is safe for children. This range has been devised with our specialist headphone suppliers.

How long is each Experience?

EYFS Experiences are around 15 minutes long while KS2 Experiences can be up to half an hour. After any Experience, there are follow-on resources for the classroom.

What ages is it for?

Our Experiences cover EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Can children with hearing impairments participate?

We have a detailed guide for how children with hearing impairments can participate, including those with hearing aids or cochlear implants. We can also coordinate directly with your SENCO.

How many children can participate?

now>press>play is a whole class activity and a standard subscription comes with 35 headphones (enough for your class and a few extra). Experiences can also be used with smaller groups for intervention work.

Who provides all the equipment? Is it complicated to set up?

We provide everything you need with your subscription: a class set of headphones, transmitter and batteries, which we even replace for free. You can access the now>press>play app off any iPad, android tablet or Chromebook. To set up, you simply connect the transmitter to any device with the NPP app on, and press play. We cover everything in our short training session and asl have videos for anyone who misses the training.

Can I trial it for free first?

Absolutely! And we will provide the training as well. Just click ‘Book A Free’ trial above.
