now>press>play creates immersive, audio experiences which improve access to learning for primary school children. In one of our Experiences, the children put on wireless headphones and are plunged into the world of their topic. They become the main character in a story, meeting people, discovering places and solving problems on an educational adventure they’ll never forget. We are looking to recruit scriptwriters on a freelance basis, who have strong backgrounds in education. As well as writing scripts, you may create worksheets that go alongside the Experiences. You should:- have experience of writing creatively for education.- have a good understanding of the new curriculum and, ideally, have KS2 expertise in one of literacy or maths.- have experience of working with KS2 children and, ideally, of making schemes of work, resources etc.- be able to write to house style. Please send a C.V. and covering letter to jobs@nowpressplay.co.uk by Sunday 12th April. Within your letter, in a short paragraph, sum up what sort of story you’d use to help improve KS2 understanding of either Adverbs (literacy) OR Percentages (maths). Remember that a script lasts 25 minutes and is a fully-fledged story. Here’s an example from us. In our Fractions experience, you're an orphaned child who stows away on the Titanic in order to find your Dad in New York. The captain calls on your mathematical skills to try to rescue the situation, e.g. what fraction of passengers can fit onto lifeboats? How many compartments need to fill up in order for the ship to sink? How many passengers survived? The story's drive must be a meaningful, emotional one - in this case, the friendship we forge with another orphan on board (Jenny) and the desire to get to our Dad.Shortlisted candidates will subsequently do a longer piece of writing, and interviews will be on Monday 1st June.
